Michelle invites you to look out for her work exhibited in the Norfolk area. She is a member of West Norfolk Artists Association (WNAA) and the Norfolk Contemporary Artist Society (nCAS). Michelle is looking for new galleries to exhibit her work and welcomes other artists to contact her with any invitations to exhibit along side their own work. Her ultimate goal is to exhibit in major cities throughout the UK and eventually overseas.
While this personal website only shows the past few years of key pieces, Michelle has a background of structural design and technical drawing which led her to a career shift after leaving Loughborough University prematurely to continue with her interest of music and electrical engineering. She assisted many big name musical artists with stage electrical requirements and safety. As a student Michelle has life modelled and was keen to learn figure drawing which she describes as a reflection of her openminded approach to art and life in general.
Michelle is currently enjoying painting West Norfolk seascapes from memory and combines realism with imagination to produce dynamic paintings. She is also a recording singer and songwriter. Michelle is learning the cello and harp to add an exciting twist to her songwriting, while collaborating with other musicians to work towards new releases for 2023. Michelle is living with progressive Multiple Sclerosis and finds her musical and artistic talents, as a soul-healing journey. More recently, Michelle has begun a Master's Degree in Fine Art and when completed in Spring 2024, the solo exhibition will be held at West Acre Gallery in Norfolk.
Mysterious Art from the Soul
Michelle Louise Carter is a self taught artist who left the city of Sheffield in 2017 for the restful West Norfolk coast. She intended to pursue her dream of becoming a painter as an aid to self adjust to her declining health.Michelle has her unique style of shaping acrylic and oil on canvas using her fingers and palette knives. She describes this method as unleashing her inner child to create her mix of smooth and textured surfaces. Michelle has recently introduced an overlay of pastels to tweak her liking for dramatic clouds.
It was recently mentioned in a discussion that she gets so focused while painting, she regularly has no recollection of how she painted certain parts of her work, these parts are the areas Michelle is often the most pleased with.
Because of Michelle's open and enchanting personality, we described her beautiful work as mysterious and from the soul.
Upon talking with her, she described how the traumas of life have shaped her into the artist we see today, and has proven to be the escape needed to survive life which she describes as 'unexpected'.
